How Often does your Men’s Ministry Meet?:  Monthly

Meeting, Day, Time, Location:  Monthly Men’s Fellowship Meeting, 1st Saturday, 8:00 AM breakfast, Fellowship Hall

MINISTRY AREA:

EVANGELISM:  During the year at our various meetings, we recognize Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters and EMS Workers. In December each year, we sponsor breakfast with Santa at the church on a Sunday morning. We carried 24 from our church to Rock Eagle Men’s Retreat last year. Some of those young men did not have a church home, so we had a great time of fellowship & encouragement with them. We also made a donation to our local YMCA to provide a Christian environment for kids in the summer that could not afford to attend.

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT:  This past year, we have sponsored our local jail ministry and provided funding for Bibles for inmates along with providing counseling & encouragement. We sponsored the Erskine College Men’s Volleyball team and had them speak to all three of our services as well as providing them a steak lunch.

PRAYER ADVOCACY:  We have two groups of men meeting weekly for prayer. These groups have formed a tremendous bond and share not only their prayer concerns but those of our church and community. We provided financial support to the local Wesley Walk last year.

HUNGER ADVOCACY:  Our UMM provided support to our sponsored community meal in December where we provided meals to 1400 folks. Our men are also active in providing food to our local food pantry on a regular basis.

MISSIONS:  Volunteers are requested from time to time and our men step up. These things range from taking someone to an appointment and helping out with small projects around someone’s home that needs assistance.

DISASTER RESPONSE:  This past year, we have sponsored our local jail ministry and provided funding for Bibles for inmates along with providing counseling & encouragement. We sponsored the Erskine College Men’s Volleyball team and had them speak to all three of our services as well as providing them a steak lunch.

PRISON MINISTRY:   Our group provides funding for Bibles for our inmates in our local county jail. Some of our members go with the chaplain and provide counseling & encouragement to inmates.

SCOUTING:

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT:  We are working to bring younger men into our group. One way is by having programs associated with projects they might be interested in. In our UMM, we call upon various members to provide a program from time-to-time. This helps to develop leaders now and in the future.

COMMUNICATIONS:  We use email, church newsletter and weekly church bulletins to communicate with our members.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

List Programs / Speakers (and their subjects) you would recommend to other Men’s Ministries:

List Men’s Special Activities in your Church and Community: We have a Chicken-Que each year which is our fundraiser. We then take funds from that event to support our various projects.

How can you serve / help other Men’s Ministries? : We are just beginning to consider to bring in other Men’s ministries from smaller UMC churches in our county. Often, because of size, it is difficult for them to organize events/programs. A side benefit of that is that we can increase our size to serve our community and to become closer with our fellow UMM groups.

How can the UMMen of North Georgia Organization (Districts and Conference) serve / help you? :
